Dr. Byung Soo Lee

Dr. Byung Soo Lee is currently a principal researcher at Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS). Dr. Lee received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Department of Nuclear Engineering, Seoul National University. He holds a PhD in nuclear engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, Pennsylvania, USA.

Dr. Lee joined KINS in 1993 and served in several leading positions heading the department of health physics and regulatory coordination, the division of radiation safety assessment, the division of radiation emergency preparedness, and until 2016 the department of radiation protection and radioactive waste safety. He was mainly involved in the work of radiation safety regulation and research related to the development of radiation safety regulation infrastructure as well as radiation emergency preparedness and environmental monitoring.

Dr. Lee worked as representative of the Republic of Korea to the IAEA radiation safety standards committee (RASSC) from 2005 to 2010. He also served as board member of the Korean Association for Radiation Protection and as board member of the Korean Radioactive Waste Society.

Dr. Lee has been representative of the Republic of Korea to UNSCEAR since the sixty-third session, 2016.
