Ms. Maria-Jesús Muñoz has been Head of the Cabinet of the Technical Director for Radiation Protection at the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) since 2003.
Ms. Muñoz graduated from the Autonomous University of Madrid in 1978 (MSc in Chemistry).
She joined the Nuclear Energy Board in 1980 and the Nuclear Safety Council in 1982. Within the CSN, Ms. Muñoz held positions as Head of the following Departments: Occupational Radiation Protection; Standards and R&D in Radiation Protection; Personnel Dosimetry; Industrial Radioactive Facilities and Transport of Radioactive Material.
Ms. Muñoz was Member of the Board of the Spanish Radiation Protection Society from 1998 to 2002.
Ms. Muñoz has been a member of the OECD/NEA Expert Group on the Implications of ICRP Recommendations (EGIR), member of the OECD/NEA Expert working group on Science and Technology, member of several IAEA Committees and Advisory Groups in transport of radioactive materials, and observer of the IAEA Radiation Safety Standards Committee (1997-2000). She has been involved in several European Commission Working Parties on implementation of European Directives (Basic Safety Standards and Outside Workers).
Ms. Muñoz has been representative of Spain to UNSCEAR since its fifty-ninth session (2012).
