Dr. Susilo Widodo
Dr. Susilo Widodo is currently Head of the Center for Radiation Safety and Metrology, National Nuclear Energy of Indonesia since 2007. The Center is involved in research and development in the field of radiation metrology, dosimetry, biomedical sciences including health effects of ionizing radiation, application of nuclear technology for medicine, and, providing services in the field of radiation safety.
After obtaining his first degree in physics at the University of Indonesia in 1982, Dr. Widodo spent one year in 1984 for training in the field of health physics and radiation protection at the Juelich Nuclear Center in Germany. From 1987 to 1993, Dr. Widodo lived in Japan where he obtained a doctoral degree in nuclear physics from the Department of Nuclear Engineering, Khushu University. In 1994, he was appointed as Head of the Standardization Division, Center for Standardization and Radiological Safety Research in National Atomic Energy Agency of Indonesia. From 1998 to 2007, Dr. Widodo worked at the On-site Inspection Division of the Provisional Technical Secretariat for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) in Austria as radionuclide equipment officer. Based on his experience at the CTBTO, he is currently initiating the development of station monitor for atmospheric radioactivity in Indonesia.
Dr. Widodo was a member of the IAEA Radiation Standard Safety Committe from 2008 to 2010.
He has been the representative of Indonesia to UNSCEAR since 2011.
