Dr. Shree Kumar Apte
Dr. Shree Kumar Apte is currently Director of the Bio-Science Group at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, India.
Dr. Apte obtained his Masters in Botany from the Jiwaji University, Gwalior in 1972 and a Ph.D. in Botany from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad in 1985. He graduated in Biology and Radiobiology discipline from BARC Training School in 1973.
Dr. Apte has published over 200 research papers. He is an elected fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Indian Academy of Science, National Academy of Science, and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, in India.
Dr. Apte has been invited as expert by the US National Science Foundation and has conducted collaborative international research under the USAID program (1984-1990) and under the Indo-German Collaboration Program (1999-2003). During 2001-2004, he coordinated a DAE-sponsored multi-institutional research project entitled "Thermal Ecological Studies" aimed at assessment of possible impact of thermal effluents from operating nuclear power plants on aquatic ecosystems.
Dr. Apte has been representative of India to UNSCEAR since its sixty-first session (2014).
