Congress
Message from LOC Chairman
The Ghana Association of Radiation Protection (GARP) is pleased to welcome you to this dignified 6th African Congress of the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA), with the theme “Embracing Radiation Protection Education and Safety Culture” from 10th to 13th October 2022 in Accra – Ghana.
This year’s theme was adopted to promote excellence in the practice of radiation protection (RP) in many parts of the world, educate the public, protect mankind and its environment against the hazards caused by ionising radiation, and thereby implicitly facilitating the safe application of medical, scientific, and industrial radiological practices for the benefit of mankind.
At a time of significant developments in the use of ionising and non-ionising radiation in the medical field and in the revival of nuclear industry, there is potential to improve how radiological challenges are addressed through improvement in, or development of, a strong radiation protection and safety culture throughout the world. Through this, professional competence, and the core values of emphasizing safety over competing goals to ensure protection of people and the environment would be enhanced because of the cooperation of you all. The education and training of occupationally exposed workers as well as young professionals will ensure a continuous safe environment at the workplace.
Therefore, I invite you to actively contribute to the congress by submitting abstracts and papers for consideration and inclusion in the program of the 6th African IRPA Congress. We encourage you to share the information about this congress to your friends, colleagues, and associates.
Finally, I would like to show appreciation to you all, especially our collaborator, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), co-sponsor, World Health Organization (WHO), other supporting organizations and members of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the preparations and planning for the Congress.
I wish all a very successful congress.
Happy AFRIRPA06!
Stay safe and healthy.
