UNSCEAR 60th anniversary reception

"From assessing the significance of fall-out in the 1950s, to evaluating the effects of radiation on the human genome today, the Committee has always taken an independent and impartial approach. This is crucial on issues that are often highly emotional and political," said the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in a message to mark the 60 th anniversary of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR).

A host of ambassadors, delegates, scientists and guests gathered to commemorate this landmark occasion at a reception hosted by the Mayor and Governor of Vienna Michael Häupl, at the Vienna Rathaus on 27 June 2016.
