Mohammad Reza Kardan

Dr. Mohammad Reza Kardan is Head of Iran Nuclear Regulatory Authority (INRA)

He received a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering and MSc degree in Nuclear Engineering form Sharif University of Technology followed by a doctorate in Nuclear Engineering from Amir Kabir University of Technology.

Dr. Kardan held several research positions in Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute (NSTRI). He became Director of National Radiation Protection Department, later Head of Reactor and Nuclear Safety Research School. He was also appointed as Vice-President of Alborz Health and Agriculture Research Center.

Dr. Kardan has worked as a consultant, lecturer and radiation protection expert for International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He has been member of Radiation Safety Standard Committee (RASSC) and Transport Safety Standard Committee (TRANSSC) for more than 10 years.

Dr. Kardan was the observer of the Islamic Republic of Iran to UNSCEAR for its 65th and 66th sessions and is it representative for the 69th in 2022.

Kambiz Akbarzadeh

Dr. Kambiz Akbarzadeh is the Director-General of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) of the Department of the Iran Nuclear Regulatory Authority (INRA). He is an expert in Crisis Management, specialized on radiation and nuclear emergencies. He has experience in health, safety and environmental protection management at large industrial complexes in the Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Dr. Akbarzadeh obtained a doctorate degree in medicine Doctor from University of Medical Science, Mashhad, Iran, in 1996, and receive a masters degree in HSE Management in 2013.

Dr. Akbarzadeh is a certified doctor of INRA and a member of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

His main research interests are biological effect of radiation, radiation protection, malignancies due to radiation, and dose levels in emergencies. He is a manager of studies of the deuterium depletion effect on health, cancers and radiation protection.
