Tenth International Symposium on Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material

9 – 13 May 2022
Utrecht, Netherlands
Event code: EVT2100681

The Dutch foundation Radiation Protection Symposium North-West Europe, under the auspices of the Dutch Society for Radiation Protection (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Stralingshygiëne, NVS), in association with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is organizing the Tenth International Symposium on Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The Symposium will bring together industrial, technical and scientific communities, and regulatory bodies involved in the management of NORM, with the aim to harmonize and streamline international approaches and methods for radiation protection and residue management in industrial processes involving NORM.

NORM X Symposium topics will include circular economy — the use of residues from industrial operations involving NORM — developments in traditional ‘cradle to grave’ approaches, the application of a graded approach, decision making on optimization of protection and safety for industrial operations and processes, and progress made since the 2019 NORM IX Symposium and the 2020 International Conference on the Management of NORM in Industry.

Stakeholders including operators of industrial processes involving NORM, technical service providers, radiation protection, health, safety and environmental professionals, researchers and regulators are invited to participate. The Symposium will provide presentations, discussion forums and networking opportunities for harmonizing operational aspects and wider application of international guidance, including the IAEA General Safety Requirements Part 3 (No. GSR Part 3).
